Entrepreneurship classes are being offered by Kent State Salem and East Liverpool
Workforce Development in partnership with the Small Business Development Center of
Kent State University Tuscarawas.

These classes are for you if you have ever considered owning your own business or are
in the early stages of starting a business or need to learn more about new trends and
ideas for running your current business.  Take individual classes or the entire series.  
Learn the basics of planning and operating your own business.  

A new topic this season, E-Commerce Today!, kicks off this series of classes on
Thursday, March 4th, 2010 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Kent Salem City Center, 230
North Lincoln Avenue, Salem, OH.  Cost for this 2-hour program is $25.  

E-Commerce will cover B-to-B; B-to-C; Social Networking; Social Marketing; e-Mail
blitzing; Web site design and Web hosting; e-Bay;…

Learn the basics of planning and operating your own business so you can relax through
the process. Take-Five as a series or pick from the five or four you stress over the most.

Home-Based Business (Thursday, March 18, 2010)
Home-based businesses are assumed to be less structured than others, but the fact is
home-based business owners need more structure and discipline because of the relaxed
home atmosphere. Examine issues important in deciding whether a business at home is
for you.

Writing Your Business Plan (Thursday, April 8, 2010)
Your well-written business plan is the most important tool in developing your
business. This session will focus on the components of that plan including financial
projections.

Financing Your Business (Thursday, April 22, 2010)
This workshop will define and examine sources of business capital. Before approaching
lenders, be prepared to answer their questions and concerns.

Marketing Basics (Thursday, May 6, 2010)
What is marketing? Examine what you are really selling and who your target customer
really is. Options will be shown to most effectively market your product of business on
a cost effective basis.


Advertising Strategies (Thursday, May 20, 2010)
Learn advertising strategies that are so hot they sizzle! Discover how to make
advertising a part of your overall marketing plan. Learn how to analyze the cost-
effectiveness of your techniques that will put your advertising on target.

Instructor Bio:
These Entrepreneurship classes are being taught by Joe Belinsky who has a lifetime of
working with small business entrepreneurs. He is currently a Certified Business
Advisor with the Small Business Development Center at Kent State University at
Tuscarawas. During his career, he has owned his own businesses, and been a consultant
to intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs.  Included in his expertise are skills in Leadership,
Management, Innovation, Sales and Marketing, Business Development, and Human
Resource Management.

Besides being a successful practitioner, he has certifications in development and
delivery of over 50 programs in these subjects, having done them for companies like
Sun Oil Company, the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Idea Champions, as well as
an Assistant Professor for Kent State University and Cuyahoga Community College. He
also recently returned from Saudi Arabia, where he taught and developed programs in
Entrepreneurship for King Saud University, the largest educational institution in the
Middle East. He has since been asked to become a Visiting Professor for King Saud
University.  He is also a Certified Facilitator of the FastTrac programs for the Ewing
Kauffman Foundation, and continues as an advisor for SCORE – Consultants to America’
s Small Business.
